Sahabzade Irrfan Ali
Khan (7 January 1967 – 29 April 2020), more popularly known as Irrfan Khan, was
an Indian actor who worked in Hindi cinema.
His untimely demise, after a short period of illness has brought
about the nation’s population to grief and brought about condolences. Unlike
any other of the contemporary stars , he was one who connected with millions of
the common populace, much unknown to the Hindi film stardom. Depicting a common
man’s presence, he connected with the man on the street, unlike the other
contemporary actors. He was much akin the common man portrayed in R.K.Laxman’s
cartoon series, one everyone could identify with, but unique and stand apart
type.
An acquaintance of Irrfan, from the early days in Mumbai recalls
"He had such passion to learn, surrender and adapt, I knew he would go
far. It was his sincerity, which took him ahead, so far ahead." Noted
author Paul Coehlo commented “A star joins other stars in the sky. Thank you
for everything, Irrfan Khan”.
Even though he grew in stature, his friends admire his ability
to maintain connections with them, even after tasting success and prominence.
That’s what should be in the minds of every Indian, gratitude
for the privilege of Irrfan’s company, however short, but
extremely fruitful and colourful it has been.
His contributions towards the world of cinema and cinematic
creativity will be remembered and recalled forever.
